The 2008 Information Management Conference was held March 17-20, 2008 at the Omni at CNN Center in Atlanta, Georgia. This year’s theme, “Modernizing the DOE Legacy with IT Enterprise Solutions”, focused on providing meaningful information, to improve Information Technology (IT) management, while maximizing the contribution and value of IT for the agency. This year’s conference was geared towards addressing issues regarding acquisitions, implementation, operation and maintenance of IT in support of the mission, goals, and objectives of DOE and its program offices.
We had a record attendance this year with approximately 700 attendees, including exhibitors.
Our University Outreach welcomed students and faculty from surrounding Atlanta universities and colleges, with approximately 100 in attendance. The Office of the Chief Information Officer partnered with the Office of Human Capital in our inaugural event. This was an auspicious event for students pursuing permanent employment, internship, and research opportunities at DOE facilities and national laboratories. DOE recruited for seven positions and the OCIO made one onsite job offer. There is potential for future hires for other positions.
We would like to thank all the speakers and presenters for their willingness and participation with our Conference. We hope that the sessions have been valuable to you and your organization's management of IT. We look forward to seeing everyone at our next Information Management Conference.
