The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) has endorsed version 2 of the Department of Defense's Electronic Records Management Software Application Design Criteria Standard (DoD 5015.2-STD, June 2002) for use by all Federal agencies.  With a unified Federal standard now in place for records management software applications, DOE-STD-4001-2000 is cancelled by Numbered Memorandum RM 07-08, Design Criteria Standard for Electronic Records Management Software Applications.  As recommended by NARA, the Department encourages the use of DOD 5015.2 STD  as a baseline for selecting a records management application.   The latest version is dated April 25, 2007.
